The Shape of Things Already Come
Before one can see the forest for the trees, he must first learn of the trees’ existence. Most Americans are not paying attention to U.S. domestic policy overreach, outside of general awareness of the Biden administration’s attempt at pharmaceutical mandates in the workplace. They are almost entirely unaware of the frightening things happening across the world. Therefore, I have compiled a list of some of the more egregious policies and procedures reported on by global news organizations.
Compulsory Pharmaceuticals
Austria will require all residents take a nascent pharmaceutical or face massive fines, come February1. As Frédéric Bastiat aptly pointed out nearly two centuries ago, all law carries with it implied violence. If anyone refuses to comply and will not (or cannot) pay the fine, they will be jailed.
Germany was poised to follow Austria’s lead, but, at least for the time being, that effort has been stymied2. Consensus seems to be that legislation will be passed at some point this year.
Similar pushes for country-wide, compulsory pharmaceuticals are underway in Luxembourg3 and Ireland4.
Latvia has banned people who will not cede their bodily autonomy to the state from working in person5 and has barred non-compliant lawmakers from attending parliamentary meetings, including remote meetings6.
Italy and Greece have instituted compulsory medication for older citizens, with job termination or recurring financial penalties for the noncompliant7. Once again, refusal to cede bodily autonomy and failure to pay fines will eventually result in jail time. How many retirees on fixed income will they imprison?
Medical Apartheid
Australia’s Northern Territory has instituted a supposedly temporary, state-wide “lockout” of anyone refusing the pharmaceutical, not even allowing them to leave their home for work or exercise8. The Northern Territory has previously used the Army to move citizens who were around someone infected, but tested negative for COVID, to internment camps9 and has been accused of forcibly injecting indigenous citizens.
New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Chicago all require proof of pharmaceutical compliance to patronize most private businesses. This mandate extends to children in San Francisco10 and New York11.
Israelis who do not agree to a third dose of the single brand of pharmaceutical available in the country will lose their “Green Pass”12, required for all “non-essential” activities.
German citizens with only two doses must test before entering businesses.
Quebec, Canada is looking to require three doses as well.
Most of Europe, Australia and Canada have instituted domestic passport systems, many of which apply not only to businesses but also religious services.
Domestic travel via plane or train in Canada is restricted to the medically compliant, and inter-province travel is also restricted on a per-province basis13.
Italians must show their papers to the police before boarding public transportation14.
French police are actively approaching outdoor diners and forcing them to show their papers15.
Religious Persecution
Several pastors across Canada have been arrested for refusing to halt in-person services16. Many still face jail time for holding God’s commandments above the state17, something that Jews and Christians are explicitly called to do (Daniel 3, Acts 5:27-29). At one point, a judge attempted to legally compel a pastor to read a court prepared disclaimer whenever he stood at the pulpit18.
In Sydney, parishioners were fined a total of $35,000 for attending a worship service19. The Police commissioner was quoted as saying of the largely immigrant church body, “If cathedrals can stream online their services I don't know why suburban churches in Blacktown can't.”
“Hate-speech” laws in Canada, Sweden and Finland are being used to threaten religious leaders with fines and imprisonment should they preach an orthodox view of sexuality and marriage20. In Finland, a pastor is facing ex post facto imprisonment for a book he wrote almost two decades ago21.
