It blows my mind that Southern Baptist pastor and Oklahoma state senator Dusty Deevers is still scheduled to speak at Joel Webbon’s conference in two months, even as the conservative Christian world has overwhelmingly come to recognize that Webbon pushes eugenic racism
"Conservative" Christians have only managed to conserve cowardice and submission to the world. Oh, how it warms my heart to see strong and Godly men like Webbon rise up. Perhaps the day will yet come that the SBC will be cleaned from wokeness. Either way, Christian Nationalism is the future.
Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.
To be removed from the SBC, the pastor and church must be walking out of step with the SBC confession of faith. That is what determines to be walking in good faith of the SBC. Tom Ascol and Dusty Deevers walk in step with the confession and thus are in good fellowship. Female pastors and their churches are not in good fellowship as the confession states.
I’m so glad to have helped steer my church to leave the SBC two years ago but this is still so sad. As the SBC goes, so goes evangelicalism in America. When they coddle Christian Nationalism, others will too.
Man I hear you. I suffered through the very same anger and frustration (it’s not a strong enough word: vexation, desperation, indignation) as you are. I left the SBC in large part because of a lot of that stuff. I wish I could tell you that one day they’ll listen and one day the SBC president and EC et al will finally do something about it but I just can’t. I spent nearly 30 years up close in the SBC and never saw it happen. They won’t. The ships too big to admit that we’ve run into a an iceberg and we’re taking on water. Ship’s too big to fail. The ship is the message now. Cant admit that its let racism and nationalism and sexism run the show since forever. What I can tell you is that these guys are the loudest and the worst of the worst in the SBC but for every Ascol or Tom Buck there’s 20 guys just trying to be a faithful pastor.
Sorry I’m going to be vague here but I don’t want to lose my job: one of the most poisonous political appointees I’ve ever known from my time with an executive agency in Trump 1.0 is both a major SBC guy AND a major guy with Trump 2.0. Christian Nationalism is poisonous both to the Church and Government, and it is disheartening that the SBC seems to be so onboard.
Kowtowing to what, Ron? Which of these people are you in agreement with? Webbon? "Benjamin"? "Wesley Todd"? Conn? Sauve?
Do you think that some "races" have superior traits? Do you think that's an effect of "faithfulness"? Perhaps, like Benjamin, you think the Holocaust never happened. Which is it?
What a pathetic comment. You’ve shown yourself to be far more kowtowing, unmanly, and unchristian than Blake — and I knew neither of you before right now.

I think you should reread BF&M XV and consider who their closest allies are.

My last word is that nobody’s buying this ridiculous protestation, so I pray you repent. God bless you.
I deleted that comment, because I’m not here to sick people on you, but you clearly are in the sin of ethnic animus and I call you to repent.
Jewish people are incapable of having ethnic animus towards black people, as you displayed in my linked comment? That’s news to me.

Based on this comment, I'm going to guess at least the first two. Wow, Ron: https://substack.com/profile/278374104-ron-smelkinson/note/c-83647638
